The Challenge: With a personal and professional wine background, and a recent certification as a Sommelier, Winegal needed a personal blog to build her wine community in preparation for a future e-commerce site.

The Solution: Evolution Design created a logo design featuring a burgundy colored wine stain element. A mobile-responsive theme from StudioPress was selected for further customization. We added new graphics and backgrounds to create a professional and unique color scheme and appearance.

Adding Warmth to an All-Blue Identity

The Challenge: The experienced accountants of San Diego CPA firm Friedman Brannen had a static website with solid content but an outdated design. Their logo and corporate identity featured a corporate dark blue color for all elements.

The Solution: Evolution Design created a custom themed WordPress website with brown and beige to complement the dark blue in the client’s logo. To add warmth and a friendly appearance, shades of brown and gold were used in buttons, text and imagery throughout the site. A customized how-to guide was created to help website managers understand and change their site.

A Traditional Design For A Salmon Smokehouse

The Challenge: After spending years honing their craft and building a new artisinal salmon smoking facility in Santa Barbara, wholesaler Santa Barbara Smokehouse was ready to start marketing their products online.

The Solution: Evolution Design created a custom themed WordPress website with a wood plank background and brown and red color scheme. Decorative content boxes and sepia-tone imagery help convey a traditional feel. A mobile plugin allows switching between desktop and mobilephone views. A customized usage guide was also created to help the client team make simple changes internally.

Logo Design & Responsive Theme Customization

The Challenge: Well before the business was ready to make its first sale, the owner of nonprofit consulting firm Create Possibility was ready to create a WordPress website and business blog.

The Solution: Since the client was ready to start blogging right away, Evolution Design recommended the Streamline theme from StudioPress, a responsive theme tailor-made for business blogging. The client had their content written and organized ahead of time, so the website was assembled quickly. Once we completed a simple logo design, we then customized all the graphics and backgrounds to create a professional and unique color scheme and overall appearance. A customized MailChimp subscription form widget was created so that visitors could be added automatically to the client’s email audience database.

Instant Mobile Optimization Using a Pre-Built Theme

The Challenge: Soon after opening their first restaurant location in Carlsbad, KASI Indian Restaurants decided that an “editable” dynamic WordPress website was needed to replace their static website.

The Solution: A pre-built responsive theme from StudioPress was selected, which displays content in an adaptable format optimized for best display on mobilephones and tablets, while desktop computer users are shown a more rich, textured look. The homepage features a responsive image slider, which re-sizes and relocates itself to fit different screen sizes. Evolution Design assembled the website, color-adjusted some client-supplied images, provided copy-editing, and customized all areas to add the company brand elements. An automated MailChimp subscription form was added, with branded subscription and confirmation forms.

A Warm Website For A Full Service Training Firm

The Challenge: After updating their logo and sales brochure, San Diego corporate presentation training specialist 2Connect wanted to upgrade their aging web presence with a custom WordPress website and blog.

The Solution: Evolution Design created a custom themed WordPress website with a warm brown background color to compliment the brown and green in the client’s logo. A bright purple color was used to add interest in key messaging areas throughout the site. The website uses large images and links to highlight key content and staff.  A rotating image slider is featured on the homepage. All areas of the site were built with client editability in mind. A custom usage guide was also created to help the client team make future edits in-house.

A Colorful Shopify Web Design

The Challenge: Online florist Cityside Flowers had just completed a new logo design, and needed to get a Shopify e-commerce website launched immediately.

The Solution: After reviewing the Shopify theme options with the client, a mobile-responsive theme was selected for further customization. Evolution Design provided copywriting and custom graphics for every theme area possible, including the header, homepage slideshow, and sales banners. We provided creative direction, Shopify configuration, and assistance with minor custom development. All theme settings were customized to coordinate with the client’s brand. Client imagery was optimized for web use, then client content was added to the site, along with custom favicons. Once the site was live we assisted the client with content fine-tuning, as well as Twitter and blog training.

User Interface Design with a Focus on Sustainability

The Challenge: Evolution Design designed and developed a website for Santa Monica Seafood several years ago. One of the key features was an animated “flipping book” feature for their product catalog and other top-level content. More recently the company created a detailed Powerpoint presentation showcasing their most popular products. This new printable guide offered much more detailed information than the website did, so we immediately added links to the PDF files to the site so that customers could start accessing the information right away. We then started design and development of a custom online product guide to display the added product details in a more web-friendly way than PDF files can offer.

The Solution: A custom user interface design was created, aimed at showcasing the client’s detailed product information, sustainability education, and links to similar products. On each product page, harvest and sustainability information is shown at top, with product tips for restaurant managers and servers provided in a separate column. Once the design and content structure was approved, Evolution Design developed a custom front end and back end solution, integrated with the existing Drupal website design.

A Unique Design For A Hands-On Consulting Firm

The Challenge: With a new logo design and services brochure created, Cultiver Group was ready to replace their single page temporary web presence with a custom WordPress website.

The Solution: Evolution Design created a custom themed WordPress website using colors and elements from their existing brochure, including a solid brown curved shape at top. The website highlights the firm’s social media and blogging activity, with feeds for recent blog posts and recent tweets on every page. It also functions as a traditional brochure website, with emphasis on explanations of company services. The homepage features a rotating image slider with window-blind transition effect.

Desktop & Mobile Website Design for a Legal Firm

The Challenge: The four attorneys at Advantage Law Group had a one-year old website that was performing poorly on local search. Google Analytics data was being collected but it showed that the site needed to improve in several areas. The client wanted to start blogging but did not like the unattractive Blogger site set up by their previous website vendor.

The Solution: After an in-depth consultation to better understand the firm’s overall marketing needs, Evolution Design created a custom WordPress website that promotes their new blog. Each blog post is featured graphically on the homepage, and subscriptions are encouraged on key pages. Each of the four partners are blogging on employment law topics. We took photos of the interior and exterior of the client’s office space, for use on various pages of the site. To improve the engagement level of the homepage we created a video presentation with custom narration.

Additional assignments for this client included a mobile version of the website, as well as creation of landing pages, enhancements to their paid search campaign, and keyword and analytics analysis.
